Ahhh well need not fret…. Newport has not gotten the best of me… almost, but not yet… I would like to put it out there that I have yet to close the bars down… for this I am incredibly happy…. although I’m not 100% sure this is because I am exhausted or because I start earlier… hopefully it’s the first one.
Well, that’s how my drinking habits have been… more importantly, my running habits. It’s great to be home because there’s more time to focus on running…. more people to kick you in the ass to run. That said, most days after a labor intensive day at work… I only want to sleep. I have been running but not as much as I would have planned. I’m beginning to think the hardest part about running a marathon is the training!!!!
As of the other day (Thursday) I’ve decided to cut the bullshit and start taking it really serious again. So, the bullshit is gone and today is my first long run. I’m shooting for 20k. I believe that’s the point I’m at right now… I run 7 miles easily, so the last 3 will be a good challenge.. and that is the point I’m at right now… I need to start challenging my self on a regular basis.
So from here on out it’s FOCUS FOCUS FOCUS. Starting to think NYC… who wants to come watch? The bigger the crew there, the better. Our delivery guy (as in delivery crew member), Ricardo, has a friend with a bar at mile 8. Then there’s mile 26.2 (the finish)….
As far as the charity is concerned… I’m half way there!!!! Thank you so much to all those who have been supporting me… every little bit has helped… Actually it’s the family and friends that have been supporting me (not just with donating) with my running that have been the best… it’s always wicked to have a great deal of people encouraging you to do something really big (well, apparently it’s really big… that’s what everyone keeps telling me)…. there’s been my step-brother who gave me a ridiculous amount of energy and protein powders; Ross, who sent me a book on running; Ian, who designed the training; my Capt. and his wife who gave me the thumbs up to run; and then there’s the the all the high fives along the way from Italy, Australia, the UK, Texas, RI, California, Massachusetts, Maryland, Florida, and more…. THANK YOU ALL!!! Oh, And I’m still giving away miles…
