I'm Running the 2009 NYC Marathon!!

1 month to go.

October 1, 2009 · 4 Comments

So I really am doing this thing. I have one more month to practice. Ugh I don’t like that word. Rewind. I have one more month to train. There we go, much better. Good run yesterday. 6.5 miles… easy run… that’s kinda satisfying, when 6.5 becomes an easy run… and it went pretty quick; I mean what else am I going to do in that hour?

So here’s the deal. I’m running the NYC Marathon– which wasn’t really something I planned to do 4 months ago, but you know it kinda just happened that way. Regardless, it’s happening. I’ve been training hard & eating healthy & keeping my body healthy.

Now, I know this is something only I can do but I can’t complete the process without your help. I need your support. I’m in my final weeks of training as well as with raising money for “Team for Kids.” And I understand that it’s an interesting charity. More than once I’ve heard from family and friends “I don’t want to give money to fat, lazy kids.” But that’s not at all what the charity is for. Quite the opposite actually. Across the country and world, children grow up in neighborhoods that are so poor that they’ve had to cut funding for recess, gym class and sports. Can you imagine childhood without recess or gym?!! When would you have run and released all of your energy? After school you say? What if you lived on a street that was littered with bullet shells? Or you didn’t get home until after dark? In short, we were all fortunate to run around during our day. In short, with your help, Team for Kids gives the gift of running to children. They create an outlet for children to release their energy by creating after school running programs in inner cities.

I need your help in the final month.  Will you please donate to Team for Kids under my name?

There are many reasons to donate… like, you get to pay to torture me for 4+ hours… or maybe you want to make a bet with me that I can’t cross the finish line in less than 5 hours… and then there’s the phone call at the mile mark you bought. Bring it all on… the bets, the torture, the phone calls. The only thing I ask is that you donate to help the the kids.

Do it for their smiling faces.

    Brava Corinna,
it’s great to follow your training, your progresses and your issues, I dream running the NYC marathon myself, one day. In the meantime, I just did the donation!

Keep up the good work, as those nights draw shorter you’re gonna want to train less, but you know what needs doing!! No slacking! For donation purposes, i don’t need a phone call – you’ll be knackered already, but would like to sponsor mile #24 as thats my lucky number.

It would be great to follow your marathon on a map, I don’t know if this is possible via the tracking chip.
